My Interior Continuum | A Nursery for Someday
Share
Today, I've found myself wanting to spend the day designing a nursery.
Not because there's a baby on the way.
Not because there's a room that needs to be finished.
Just because sometimes it's nice to dream a little.
As an interior designer, I spend so much of my time helping other people create homes that reflect the lives they're building. This time, I wanted to create something a little more personal. A space inspired by the future I hope to have someday.
The room itself pulls from many of the things I've always loved. Rich wood tones. Collected artwork. Antique brass. Layered patterns and textures that feel as though they've been gathered over time rather than purchased all at once.
It also became a quiet nod to my French and Czechoslovakian heritage. The traditional artwork, old world influences, and collected feeling throughout the space remind me of the kinds of homes that have always felt familiar to me.

I knew from the beginning that I didn't want the room to feel overly themed. I wanted it to feel timeless. A place that could grow alongside a child while still feeling connected to the rest of the home.
The landscape mural became the starting point. From there, the room slowly took shape around it. A brass crib beneath the mountains. Vintage inspired artwork arranged along the walls. A rocking horse waiting patiently in the corner. A favorite bunny perched on the dresser.
The result feels both nostalgic and hopeful.
Whether this room remains a design concept or becomes something more one day, creating it was a reminder that some spaces don't need to solve a problem or meet a deadline. Sometimes they simply give us a place to imagine what might be ahead.
And I think there's something beautiful about that.

While I always encourage sourcing vintage whenever possible, I know that isn't always practical. Many of the pieces that inspired this design can often be found through antique shops, estate sales, flea markets, and vintage marketplaces.
For those hoping to recreate the design, I've linked the closest sources for each piece below:
