A Vintage Storybook Bedroom Inspired by Healing Your Inner Child | My Interior Continuum
Share
Lately, I've been trying to spend a little less time scrolling and a little more time creating.
Whenever my mind starts racing, I almost always come back to the same thing. I open up my design software, start collecting pieces I love, and slowly watch a room come together. Somewhere along the way, my shoulders drop, my breathing slows, and the noise quiets down.
Today's room felt like a little gift to my younger self.
I don't think I ever stopped loving storybooks, old forests, ballet slippers, pressed flowers, or bedrooms that felt like they held a little bit of magic. Maybe we don't really outgrow those things. Maybe we just learn to appreciate them differently.
So I imagined a bedroom that feels like it has existed for generations.
A mural that makes it feel like nature wandered indoors.
A vintage chandelier that catches the afternoon light.
Soft ribbon trimmed bedding that feels heirloom-y.
Warm walnut furniture that grounds all of the pastel details without making the room feel overly sweet.
I mixed sage green and powder blue furniture because they remind me of painted antiques you'd stumble across in a tiny country shop. The floral artwork, delicate lighting, and scalloped rug all help soften the space without competing for attention.
The goal wasn't to design the trendiest bedroom on Pinterest.
It was to design a room that feels safe.
The kind of bedroom where you'd spend hours reading books under the covers, collecting tiny treasures, writing stories, or simply watching the rain outside your window.
If this room reminds you of a place you would've loved as a kid, maybe your inner child has good taste too.
