Sophie’s First Studio Apartment

Sophie’s First Studio Apartment

This design takes us back to 2023.

Sophie’s studio

... was her first place completely on her own, and she wanted it to feel calm, clean, and personal. We kept the foundation neutral, layered in soft greens and warm natural textures, and worked the layout around one very specific priority: she loves old movies, so the TV needed to be visible from the bed, living area, and desk. I also layered blackout and light-filtering curtains so she could adjust the glare depending on where she was watching from.
She also mentioned that too much on the walls made the space feel mentally busy, so I intentionally left plenty of negative space. Visually crowded environments can increase the amount of information our brains have to process, while simpler surroundings can make it easier to focus and settle. For Sophie, in her first studio, where every function of home shares one room, that breathing room mattered just as much as the furniture.
