My FAV color palette in Tae's Living Room Project !

There is something about deep olive, warm cognac, muted blue, aged brass, and rust that absolutely gets me. It is one of my favorite palettes to work with because it feels traditional and historic without ever feeling stuffy. Add in worn leather, distressed velvet, natural wood, and a vintage-inspired rug, and I am done. The richness of those materials together gives me chills every single time.

There is also a reason these deeper, richer colors can feel so grounding. Our brains are constantly reading contrast, saturation, texture, and visual complexity. Earthier hues and layered natural materials can give a room plenty of sensory interest without creating the kind of sharp, high-contrast visual noise that can make a space feel overstimulating. That balance is part of what makes a room like this feel cozy instead of heavy.

For this space, the goal was durability without sacrificing personality. Top-grain leather brings warmth and age beautifully, while the distressed green velvet adds softness and depth. The asymmetrical gallery wall keeps things a little funky and gives the room a sense of movement, which helps offset the more traditional pieces.

And then there is the daybed by the window, which might be my favorite part. It creates a hella cozy place to sprawl out, read, nap, or just disappear into for a while after a long day.

I love rooms that feel polished but never precious. Give me texture, history, practical materials, a little visual tension, and enough softness to actually live in the space. That is where the magic is for me.
