The nursery piece that works with almost ANY design style, imo!

One of my favorite parts of interior design is seeing how dramatically a single piece of furniture can change depending on the room around it.

For this little design experiment, I used the same olive green changing table in four completely different nurseries. Each space has its own personality, color palette, and design direction, but the changing table fits naturally into every one.

That versatility is especially important in a nursery. Babies grow quickly, and the furniture we bring into their rooms should ideally be able to grow with them.

A Warm, MCModern Nursery

The first nursery pairs the olive green changing table with warm wood tones, creamy textiles, natural materials, and a few playful accents.

The green adds color without overpowering the room, while the simple shape keeps the space feeling clean and modern. This design would work beautifully for someone who wants a nursery that feels welcoming and thoughtfully styled without leaning too heavily into a theme.

As the child grows, the changing table could easily become a bookshelf, toy station, art supply cabinet, or open storage piece.

A Woodland-Inspired Nursery

The second design takes the changing table in a softer, storybook-inspired direction.

Woodland animals, leafy details, warm browns, and muted green tones make the room feel playful while still being easy to live with. The changing table blends naturally into the earthy palette and almost feels like it was designed specifically for the space.

Later, it could hold baskets of toys, children’s books, puzzles, or little collections gathered from outdoor adventures.

A Colorful Kawaii Nursery

For the third nursery, I wanted to see whether the same olive green piece could work in a room filled with brighter colors and more playful shapes.

Soft pink, lavender, yellow, and cheerful decorative details create a colorful kawaii-inspired space without making the room feel chaotic. The green changing table helps ground the brighter palette and gives the design a slightly more mature foundation.

This is also a great example of how colorful children’s rooms do not need every piece of furniture to match perfectly. A deeper grounding color can give all of those playful accents somewhere to land.

An Urban, Skater-Inspired Nursery

The final design gives the changing table a completely different personality.

Graphic artwork, black accents, layered textures, and urban-inspired details create a nursery that feels energetic, creative, and a little unexpected. Against this backdrop, the olive green reads almost like a neutral.

This version could transition especially well into a toddler or older child’s room. The changing table could become storage for books, art supplies, shoes, sports gear, or favorite objects.

Nursery Furniture That Grows With Your Child

A changing table has a relatively short original purpose, but that does not mean the furniture itself needs to become obsolete.

Open shelving makes this piece especially easy to repurpose. Once the changing pad is removed, the top can be used for lamps, artwork, books, toys, or everyday storage. Baskets on the shelves can hide smaller items while still keeping everything accessible.

Choosing nursery furniture with a simple shape and a versatile color can make it much easier to update the room over time without starting over completely.

These four designs may look entirely different, but the same olive green changing table feels at home in every one. That is exactly the kind of flexibility I love finding in a piece of furniture.
