The Portfolio Continuum - Client Story 2020
Share

Let's throw it back to 2020! POV: your client says they want “moody industrial glam” and suddenly you are collecting deep green paint colors, worn leather textures, antique-inspired lighting, black metals, dramatic artwork, oversized mirrors, and rich layered textiles like a tiny design goblin roaming the internet at 2am. 😭
This project instantly became one of my favorite Client Continuum spaces because everything landed exactly where it needed to. The room feels dramatic without becoming cold. Rustic without feeling heavy. Glam without looking too polished or staged.
The client wanted something moodier and more sophisticated, but still comfortable enough to genuinely live in. That balance became the entire direction for the project. Deep green walls created the foundation, while warm woods, creamy upholstery, soft textiles, and aged leather helped soften the darker contrast throughout the space.
One of my favorite parts of the design ended up being the layering itself. The oversized mirrors reflecting natural light against the darker walls. The leather bench grounding the bedroom. The black metals mixed with softer textures. Even the artwork brought in this slightly cinematic feeling that made the whole home feel collected and personal instead of overly decorated.
Honestly, this space feels like the design equivalent of low lighting, jazz playing somewhere in the background, expensive candles burning, and someone dramatically sipping red wine while pretending they are unbothered. Which is exactly the vibe we were hoping for. 🖤
The best part? The client rated the final design 5 stars and loved everything about it, including the layout, furniture selections, color palette, and overall atmosphere of the space. Feedback like that never stops feeling surreal to me.
A lot of the pieces sourced during this project ended up inspiring entirely new concepts afterward too, which is honestly how many of my Portfolio Continuum spaces begin. I’ll finish a client project and immediately start spiraling into new combinations of textures, lighting, materials, and color stories that I can’t stop thinking about.

love this space and want to bring some of these pieces into your own? i’ve linked everything below for you!
