Designed in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, this home office was created at a time when suddenly everyone needed space to work, think, and exist at home in an entirely different way.

This project was especially challenging in the best possible sense. The client had an incredibly sharp eye for balance, proportion, and restraint. Every line mattered. Every object mattered. He wanted the space to feel calm and architectural without becoming cold, and was very intentional about avoiding excessive pattern, contrast, or styling.

Minimalism can be deceptively difficult. When there are fewer objects in a room, every single detail becomes more noticeable.

One of the most important priorities was preserving openness throughout the space. The shelving surrounding the desk was intentionally left mostly clear because his cats loved lounging nearby while he worked. He also preferred an almost entirely clean desktop with only the essentials visible, so the styling remained extremely minimal and purposeful.

To keep the room from feeling sterile, I introduced warmth through subtle wood tones layered sparingly throughout the space. The goal was to create softness without interrupting the clean visual rhythm the client was drawn to.

The final result feels quiet, airy, and intentional. A workspace designed to support focus while still feeling deeply lived in.
